Thomastown House, Co. Kildare
This Georgian Farmhouse set in the beautiful Irish countryside south of Dublin was a dream project. The owners wanted to keep the main house to a more formal traditional style while adding on this stunningly elegant Orangery Kitchen and Living space to the garden side of the house. The space had to feel like it flowed organically from the main house and a huge amount of consideration went into the choice of natural materials to include the herringbone parquet floor, the internal clay wall render from Clayworks and twelve sets of double doors looking out onto the countryside views which we treated with heavy weight Belgian linen curtains.
The choice of lighting was really important to zone the three areas seamlessly and according to function, the main oak leaf chandelier being the defining piece in the living area complemented by stunning pendant lights from Hector Finch Lighting over the kitchen from Newcastle Design.
The overall effect truly reflects the clients wish for an elegant yet comfortable living space in a country farmhouse setting.
